LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

Susan Schmidt
My husband and I are volunteers, ushering regularly at the Civic Center for the past 7 years. We found the current production of Wicked to be among the top two shows we have seen in 7 years, second only to The Lion King.

LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

Reece Kepler
Is that the silhouette of a flying pig I see by the light of a blue moon? Or did this conservative reader agree with something Rev. Robin Myers penned in Oklahoma Gazette?

I am sorry. I am sorry for my lack of concern for the state of the Oklahoma Public Schools until it affected my child directly.

Together again

Since the May 20 tornadoes, pets, owners and rescue organizations are slowly moving on.

News

Gina A. Dabney
Natural disasters are unkind. They tear people and pets apart. Moore resident Brenda Beaty, who lived three blocks from Plaza Towers Elementary School, was at work when the tornado hit on May 20. Immediately, the search began for the family pets. Her daughter’s two dogs were found, one still in the carrier. However, Beaty’s beloved dog, Tinker, was missing.

Fright Night 2: New Blood

Fangs for nothing.

Horror

Rod Lott
I'm not surprised Fright Night 2: New Blood was made expressly for home video. What does surprise me is that it is not a sequel at all. It's more or less a remake of 2011's Fright Night remake, but with entirely different actors to give it the unmistakable whiff of fan fiction.

The East

'East' meets best.

Thriller

Rod Lott
Across her three films as an actress/writer/producer (2011’s Another Earth, 2012’s Sound of My Voice and this summer's unjustly ignored The East), Brit Marling has explored the subjects of cults, symbols, duplicates, identity and family. Remarkably, despite these recurring themes and a tonal similarity, each experience seems anew.

The Younglings — The Younglings

Rock

Joshua Boydston
Oklahoma’s own The Younglings aren’t so much breaking new ground as they are building on a solid foundation with their latest self-titled album, but the duo does a rather convincing strut in The Black Keys’ shoes in a Rubber Factory-worthy assembly line of tried and true blues rock tunes.
