Last week’s hullaballoo surrounding Chesapeake Energy involved taxes, G-men, a Seattle newspaper’s provocative photo selection, and a compressed natural gas filling station controversy.

Not to discount Mickey McVay’s environmental education, but his “Kool-Aid’s global warming flavor” letter (Oct. 24, Oklahoma Gazette) has left a bad taste in my mouth. Reason being, he has previously identified himself in letters to the editor as having been an “oily,” as in one who works in the oil industry.

As state policymakers debate how to increase Oklahoma’s historically significant role in energy exploration and production, I hope that both state and federal officials will keep in mind the growing concern among voters regarding unnecessary federal regulations that are hamstringing our energy industry.
