Chesapeake Energy Corporation scored a spot at No. 51 on Fortune magazine’s list of 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2014. Although that may sound impressive, Chesapeake once made it all the way up to No. 18 in 2012 and was still hanging in there at No. 26 last year.

Mark Twain had a great mustache, but he had an even better propensity for making us laugh. Exhibit A: Is He Dead?, a fast-paced comedy about a starving artist in debt to an insatiable loan shark. See David Ives’ modern adaptation 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday at Carpenter Square Theatre, 800 W. Main St. Tickets are $5-$21. Call 232-6500 or visit carpentersquare.com.

Olympic athletes are great and all, but we think overcoming a physical disability and then competing in a sport is much more impressive. The University of Central Oklahoma Endeavor Games kick off with a swimming competition 5:30 p.m. Friday at Mitch Park YMCA, 2901 Marilyn Williams Drive, in Edmond. In all, 11 sports will be featured through the entirety of the games, which runs through Sunday at various venues in Edmond. Admission is free. For more information or to volunteer, visit ucoendeavorgames.com.

The great thing about golf is that you can play it — and be good at it — well into your senior years. But it’s even better when you’re playing at one of the region’s most scenic and prestigious courses. The 2014 U.S. Senior Open features some of the sport’s most recognizable names — Fred Couples, Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh and more — and the major USGA championship officially tees off 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Oak Tree National, 1515 W. Oak Tree Drive in Edmond, with the final round on Sunday. Tickets are $20-$225. Call 726-9700 or visit 2014ussenioropen.com.
