Wanda Jackson. Need we say more? The First Lady of Rockabilly and The Queen of Rock hasn’t performed solo in three years, but she’ll do exactly that at a benefit concert for the Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere (SHINE) Foundation, a charitable organization that supports programs encouraging youth community service. The outdoor performance takes place during the larger SHINE event, which runs from 6 to 10 p.m. May 15 at The Greens Country Club, 13100 Green Valley Drive. Admission is free, but a minimum $10 donation is requested. Call 751-6266 or visit thegreenscc.com.

The Courtneys

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

The members of Vancouver-based slacker-pop trio The Courtneys aren’t actually all named Courtney. Nevertheless, the band’s music — dubbed “super killer post-punk girl-group rock ’n’ roll” by its label Burger Records — is still, well, all of those things. Check out the rising indie rockers, along with Mikah Young and Youphoria, 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 at The Conservatory, 8911 N. Western Ave. Tickets are $10. Call 607-4805 or visit conservatoryokc.com.

Tech N9ne was here just last September, but he didn’t have Freddie Gibbs with him. That’s about to change, as Gibbs — one of the most talented and acclaimed rappers on the planet (and one of our personal favorites) — is touring as part of Tech N9ne’s Independent Grind Tour 2014 along with Krizz Kaliko, Jarren Benton and more. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Diamond Ballroom, 8001 S. Eastern Ave. Tickets are $29. Call 677-9169 or visit diamondballroom.net.

If you build it, Field of Dreams will come. Well, they built it, and Field of Dreams — arguably the best baseball movie starring Kevin Costner (of which there are many) — is coming to Sonic Summer Movie Nights. The popular film series starts back up 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 on the Great Lawn at Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W. Reno Ave. Admission is free. Call 445-7080 or visit myriadgardens.org.

Update: This show has been cancelled due to an illness in the band. Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Sorry, other shows. Any time Willie Nelson comes to town, it’s just gonna be our pick. That’s the way it goes. Not to mention, the country icon is bringing Alison Krauss and Jason Isbell with him, so we really were left with no other options. See the acclaimed and beloved singer-songwriters perform in an outdoor setting (because, you know, it’s Willie) 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at The Zoo Amphitheatre, 2101 NE 50th St. Tickets are $39.50-$99.50. Call 602-0683 or visit thezooamphitheatre.com.
