The Conjuring / Insidious: Chapter 2

Scaring something in common.

Horror

Rod Lott
Modern horror's greatest hope, standing above found footage and teen-aimed remakes, is director James Wan. I first recognized the potential in 2007's Dead Silence, his underseen throwback follow-up to the breakthrough that was Saw, but 2010's Insidious made it official.

The Postman Always Rings Twice

Thriller

Rod Lott
Once upon a time — 1981, I believe — Jack Nicholson was considered a sex symbol and Jessica Lange, a joke. My, how times have changed, even if the film noir that put them together, The Postman Always Rings Twice, has not. The second screen telling of James M. Cain's potboiler novel, Postman finally has comes a-knockin' on Blu-ray.

He’s No. 5!

CFN

Gazette staff
Oklahoma’s own, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Tulsa) is the fifth most conservative lawmaker in the nation, according to a recent report from National Journal. Oh, and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Muskogee) didn’t even break the top 10. Sigh. He hit No. 13.
