Yo ho ho and a flagon of rum

English folk/party band Skinny Lister joins Dropkick Murphys for a rowdy St. Patrick’s Day tour of the Midwest.

Music

Devon Green
A few years ago, Skinny Lister was enjoying mild success in its home country before being discovered in a hotel parking lot at SXSW. Already the darlings of the festival set in Europe, the band was discovered by the Dropkick Murphys’ manager, who witnessed the rowdy 5-piece in what lead singer Lorna Thomas described as “the world’s only mandolin solo in a glass lift.” The band was notorious for setting up anywhere and everywhere and playing to anyone who would listen. This approach, especially at SXSW, proved to be an effective one.

Weird things happen at Kings of Leon concerts: birds poop on the band, Brad Pitt shows up to party. But what went down in Seattle late last month is pretty sickening.
