In the context of jazz, the trumpet can be lethal. Just ask Allen Vizzutti, one of the most accomplished trumpeters and composers in the world. See Vizzutti literally blow your mind at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday as part of the 44th Annual SWOSU Jazz Festival in the Fine Arts Center at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, 100 E. Do you like Shakespearian theater? Then check out the aptly titled As You Like It, a romantic comedy penned by ol’ Bill himself, reimagined as the story of Western pilgrims voyaging to India in 1968. Shows commence 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and run through March 1 at the brand-spankin’-new Reduxion Theatre location, 914 N. The Paseo Arts Association hearts art a lot, which is why they’ve partnered with Oklahoma Heart Hospital for their annual The Art of Heart exhibit. This year’s show features the contemporary work of OKC sculptor Barbara S. Scott. See Scott’s work at an opening reception 6-10 p.m. Friday at Paseo Art Space, 3022 Paseo St. The show runs through February, and admission is free. Call 525-2688 or visit thepaseo.com.

If you were around OKC in the 90s, you know how much progress we’ve made because of the Metropolitan Area Projects, better known as MAPS. Local artists created works exploring the project’s impact as part of the MAPS 20th Anniversary Artist Projects exhibition, and an opening reception will be held 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Individual Artists of Oklahoma, 706 W.
